Passionate piano maker
Originally from Germany, I am an experienced piano-making craftsman who honed my expertise over my years at Pianovum Klavierbau in Wuppertal and Düsseldorf. Trained at the Oscar-Walcker-Schule in Ludwigsburg with distinction, I master every aspect of the repair, maintenance and renovation of pianos, whether upright or grand, from various renowned makers such as Steinway & Sons, Bösendorfer or Bechstein.
Keen to continuously broaden my skills, I completed numerous placements with prestigious makers such as Steinway & Sons, Steingraeber & Söhne, Schimmel and Renner. I also undertook many training courses, winning first place in the annual BDK tuning competition for apprentices in Germany in 2019. After 5 years as a craftsman and team leader at Pianovum, I chose to go independent in 2022 in Lyon.
As the founder of Lorenz Piano, I now work with pianists, shops, makers, insurers and music schools across the Lyon region. My expertise allows me to work to a high standard on all types of pianos, from the most modest to the most prestigious.

Further training in Copenhagen
From September 2026, admitted to the Academy for Young Concert Technicians at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen, on a scholarship and one of only four available places. A chance to work alongside the leading concert technician Roland Zinniker.

Training as a maker of pianos and harpsichords. Five years repairing high-end brand instruments.
Tuning competition
Best national score in the overall ranking across all categories at the 2019 tuning competition at Steinway & Sons in Hamburg.
Seminar
Seminar on concert tuning led by the top technicians of the Hamburg factory, such as Simon Rempe and Michael Schäfer.
Concert & rehearsal service
Since February 2026, caring for around 20 instruments of the Opéra de Lyon for concerts and rehearsals.

Seminar on concert technique at the Klangmanufaktur in Hamburg: voicing, acoustics and concert preparation, by Jan Kittel.
Exam preparation
Two weeks of preparation for the final practical exam. Mechanical setup of the piano and exam preparation.

Carried out various services for Bechstein, including maintenance of silent systems, string changes and tuning.

Bachar Mar-Khalifé is a French-Lebanese singer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist whose work blends jazz, classical music and Lebanese traditions. His discography includes the albums "Oil Slick", "Ya Balad", "On / Off" and "Postludes", complemented by several film scores awarded at the Berlinale and FESPACO.
